Leopard 9a581 GM

Coming to a beige-box near you... it's the final build of Leopard to come out of Cupertino! The kernel was hacked in record time to support AMD/Intel SSE2/SSE3 processors and (for AMD) the required files were decrypted and packaged up. Congrats go out to everyone (both Apple and ToH developers) who worked on this.
64bit support is limited at the moment as it takes advantage of the SSSE3 instruction found on the Conroe-based processors, but work is being done to support 64bit SSE3 only cpus. Check back here for more news from the ToH developers.

Apple Certification Authority?

Well, after a successful start on Leopard, it seems that Apple has indeed thrown us one (possibly major) obstacle. After reviewing the system itself, it appears that kexts, frameworks, and some applications have been digitally signed. There is no word yet if it is possible to hack said signed executables, or if it is merely done as a sanity check to ensure that certain files have not been compromised by an outside source, but it sure looks like an ominous sign.

More to come as progress is made

New Hardware Due?

With the upcoming release of Apple's latest release of Mac OS X, it is only fitting that we see a new hardware update. Possible products to get upgraded:

MacBook (non-pro): Possibility of the 965 chipset and updated graphics (x3100 anyone?)
Mac Pro: 45nm Quad core processor

This is purely speculation, but it is definitely worth keeping in the back of your head while considering a new hardware purchase.
