Quickly following the release of build 9a410 to ADC members, a couple of people went out and did it again. Circumventing Apple's latest kernel protection (which would keep the kernel from even loading on non-Apple hardware) seemed to be a walk in the park. Early this morning, a video was posted on Youtube (guess who) showing Apple's latest achievement running on a system it was never intended for. Here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for: You know where to look by now...

After a very short battle, 9a410 fell to the forces of the dark side and booted on Non-Apple hardware. Only the kernel and 4 kexts were added/modified. This version is the third build to be hacked on the same day that it was released. More news to come as developments are made.

Yeah, this may seem like a shameless plug, but I have set up a
donation page. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have this, but recently, the circumstances have not been normal. I've lost my job and am completely broke. So, check it out and keep checking the news for the latest from the developers front line.

On 03/29/07 15:39:26, changeset 23192 was added to the launchd Trac. The comment for the addition is the most interesting part:
9A402: Hundreds of launchd notices and errors being logged on shutdown.
Could a new build of Leopard be around the corner? Stay tuned when Thursday rolls around, especially if this release happens like 9a377a did.
